In June, we welcomed staff from local business, Plane Talking Products, to our main site in Winchester where they cooked a two-course meal for our residents, volunteers and staff.

Earlier this year, staff at Plane Talking Products chose The Winchester Beacon as their charity of the year. As well as raising vital funds to support our work they were keen to give their time as volunteers. The lunches have been an opportunity for them to gain further insight into our charity, our residents and how we are helping people to rebuild their lives after homelessness.

Nancy Judge, Senior PR and Communications Officer, was one of the members of staff at the meal:

“There is something very powerful about the connection and conversation that can be present around a meal table. Memories, hopes, difficulties and wishes have all been shared.”

One of our residents commented:

“The food was really lovely. It was nice to sit together and have a cooked lunch.”

Alison Wells, owner and CEO of Plane Talking Products said:

“We have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to spend time with you all, your volunteers and your residents and I hope you will let us back in the autumn to do it again.”

We rely on the support and generosity of our local community to make our essential work possible. If you would like to find out more about supporting The Winchester Beacon as a business, organisation or individual then please get in touch, marketing@winchesterbeacon.org.uk.
