For Simon Rickards, being away from the office in lockdown provided the opportunity to experiment with growing his hair. After the new do began to take shape, he decided to make it count and help a local charity as part of his hairy challenge.
Simon explained why he chose to help The Winchester Beacon: “I wanted to support the Winchester Beacon because of the excellent work they do in the local community, giving those in need a roof over their head. I am delighted to help a local charity, where it seems that every penny raised makes a real difference”.
Setting himself an ambitious fundraising target of £5,000, Simon appealed to family, friends and colleagues at Knight Frank to get behind his challenge to shave off his lockdown locks at the work Christmas party. His plan was well-received and the total soon began to rise. By Christmas, he had exceeded his target but then the Christmas party was cancelled due to the pandemic.
Undeterred, Simon asked his brother in law to grab the razor and they captured the big chop on camera. The total is still growing but at the moment it looks like Simon’s hair has raised at least £6,000 which will make a huge difference to the lives of people experiencing homelessness in Hampshire.
