Winchester IT support business, Computer Solutions has devised a way to give unwanted laptops a new purpose. Owner James Dickens, has developed a scheme where old laptops which are donated to Computer Solutions are wiped of all old data and then refurbished by work experience pupils.
During their work placement, the school pupils are equipped with the skills they need to work on the laptops and bring them up to date. Once the laptops are ready they are then donated to the Nightshelter for use by staff and residents.
Michele Price, Manager of Winchester Churches Nightshelter, commented on the partnership: “We are extremely grateful to Computer Solutions for all that they do to support our work. Their generous donation of laptops has been invaluable and it is fantastic to know that local school pupils are also benefiting from the process.”
The Nightshelter is always keen to collaborate with local businesses, if you have an idea for a way we could work together please do get in touch, admin@winchesterbeacon.org.uk
