We are inviting people from across the community to get involved in our Pebble Painting Project as part of The Big Help Out.

The Big Help Out is an initiative designed to put a spotlight on volunteering to mark the Coronation of His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen Consort.  It is taking place on Monday 8th May with the aim of encouraging people across the country to volunteer their time in their local community.

We are unable to invite lots of volunteers on site on Monday 8th May as our residents will be ‘home’ and we don’t want to take over their space. However, we have a great way for people to volunteer their time and skills from home. We are asking people to volunteer their creative skills to paint and decorate stones and pebbles to help to raise awareness of our support for people experiencing homelessness. It is the perfect way to volunteer from home and to come together with friends and family to support a good cause.

Use paints or pens to create a Winchester Beacon themed stone. You might like to draw our logo or include our strapline ‘Lighting a Way out of Homelessness’. Or you could feature our website address (winchesterbeacon.org.uk), our text donation information (Text BEACON and any amount up to £20 to 70560) or our social media tags. You might like to include the hashtag #WinchesterBeacon so people can share photos of their finds online. Our brand colours are blue and yellow but please feel free to make it as colourful as you like!

Once you have decorated your stone take it with you on a walk and hide it somewhere so someone else can find it. They then rehide it and so on. With each person who finds it, you will be helping to raise awareness of our support for people experiencing homelessness.

Whilst you are out exploring good hiding places for your stone, keep your eyes peeled and you might find a stone yourself. Post a photo of your find on your social media with #WinchesterBeacon and email to marketing@winchesterbeacon.org.uk. Keep checking the hashtag on social media to trace the journey of your stone.
