One of our fabulous volunteers was recently recognised on the BBC’s The One Show for her contribution to The Winchester Beacon.

Sheila has been cooking meals at home for our residents for over fifteen years. Every week she magics up a delicious main course or an irresistible dessert and drops if off at The Winchester Beacon for our ten residents to tuck into for their evening meal. We have calculated that over the years Sheila has made enough meals to feed at least 14,000 people staying at The Winchester Beacon.

Recognising Sheila’s hard work and commitment, a friend nominated her for the One Big Thank You on the BBC’s The One Show. Unaware of the nomination, Sheila returned home to find an unexpected visitor in her kitchen. Their next stop was The Winchester Beacon armed with meals for our residents. Watch below to find out what happened.

We would like to thank Sheila and her fellow volunteers for all of their hard work behind the scenes to help people experiencing homelessness in Hampshire.
