Winchester‑based developer Gentian has confirmed its strong commitment to supporting local charities, making a donation of £3,000 to The Winchester Beacon.
Community-focused
Since 2022, Gentian has been providing vital funding to The Winchester Beacon, helping to cover core operational costs. This latest contribution will further support the charity’s dedication to providing accommodation, meals and personalised support to people experiencing homelessness in the Winchester area.
Why it matters
The Winchester Beacon is open 365 days a year, accommodating approximately fifty people annually and offering tailored one-to-one support with project workers to foster long‑term stability. In recent years, the cost of delivering these essential services has steadily risen – donations from companies like Gentian are essential to bridging funding gaps.
Aiden Murray, Planning Director at Gentian commented:
“We started supporting The Winchester Beacon three years ago as we wanted to give back to the community of Winchester, given we are based in the city. We really value the great work that The Winchester Beacon does to help people affected by homelessness rebuild their lives and we hope our support goes some way towards helping the team reach as many people in need as possible.”
Gentian’s wider community impact
Gentian is known for its proactive community engagement. Since 2020, the company has donated over £200,000 to local groups﹘including initiatives focused on youth engagement, sport and social welfare. Its ongoing partnerships with many local charities demonstrates its commitment to supporting the communities that the company works in.
Nancy Judge, Senior Communications Officer at The Winchester Beacon commented:
“We are so grateful to Gentian for their interest and belief in our work. Their support and generosity has already touched the lives of so many of our residents.”
