We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Wakeling as CEO of The Winchester Beacon. In January, Mark will be taking over from Michèle Price who has been involved in our charity since 2004.
Mark has over twenty-five years’ experience of leadership roles within the charity sector and is passionate about social change and creating opportunities for people to thrive. He co-founded Beyond the Streets – a Southampton-based charity working to give women opportunities outside of the sex industry. Mark has also set up a social enterprise in partnership with organisations in the global south to support women impacted by human trafficking.
“I’m excited to be joining the team at The Winchester Beacon and I look forward to helping to ensure that many more people have the opportunity to rebuild their lives” commented Mark. “To see change, we need safe spaces and a community to work together. It is a privilege to join an excellent team and network of supporters working locally to end homelessness.”

Mark will be welcomed as CEO in January 2024.
