Last night, residents, staff and volunteers at the Nightshelter joined people across the nation in clapping for the NHS and other key workers. But when most people retreated back into their homes, our residents broke out into a rendition of ‘I Will Survive’.
The song choice is apt, as Nightshelter residents have been showing a great determination to pull together and get through these challenging times. Since the government announcement that we must all stay at home, the Nightshelter has extended its opening hours to ensure all residents can stay on site 24 hours a day. Residents have settled into a routine, with some keeping busy helping out with chores, many hunting for new jobs after losing the ones they had and some using the time to relax, play music and catch up on films.
This is not a time to be living on the streets and we are relieved that thanks to the loyalty and dedication of our staff and volunteers we can be the home our residents need during this pandemic.
Now, join in together and sing……..
