Are you ready to become a Summer Superhero? We are looking for people keen to find a way to turn their summer holidays into an opportunity to do good for their local community.
There are many things you could do to become a hero this summer. Perhaps you could organise a cake sale or host a fundraising event with friends and family. Maybe you want to challenge yourself to perfect a new skill and ask friends and family to sponsor you. Or how about asking your parent or guardian to help you to carry out jobs in the local community and ask for donations in return for your work?
However you decide to do it, raising funds for The Winchester Beacon will make you a Superhero because you will be helping to give shelter, support and a new beginning to people experiencing homelessness in Hampshire.
We would love to hear about your Superhero adventures so please keep us in touch with your plans and if possible share photos of your good works by emailing marketing@winchesterbeacon.org.uk or tag @winchesterbeacon on Facebook/Instagram and use
Steps to becoming a Summer Superhero
Step 1: Talk to your friends and family and come up with a fundraising plan
Would you like to host an event or take part in a sponsorship challenge or do you have another great way to raise money this summer?
Step 2: Tell everyone!
Now you have a plan you need to tell everyone what you are going to do. Make posters, send emails, talk to friends and family. And make sure you tell us too so that we can offer support and promote what you are doing, marketing@winchesterbeacon.org.uk
Step 3: Tech time
One of the easiest ways to collect sponsorship money is by setting up a JustGiving page. You can find our page here which you can link to, JustGiving allows you to have your own page so you can see how much you raise and who donates. If tech is not your thing don’t worry, you can make a paper sponsorship form and collect donations that way.
People can also donate via text message by texting SUPERHERO and any amount up to £20 to 70450. Eg. ‘SUPERHERO 10’ will give a donation of £10. Texts will cost the donation amount plus one standard network rate message.
Another option is to share our special Superhero donation page where your supporters can donate online, view the page here.
Step 4: Final plans
Make sure you have everything you need for your Superhero moment. Running a cake sale or similar? You will need a table, plates and change. Taking on a personal challenge? Perhaps you will need trainers and a flask of water on hand. It is a good idea to run through your final plans with an adult.
Step 5: Become a Summer Superhero
The moment has arrived, it is your time to shine and use your skills and talents to help people faced with homelessness. Make sure you remember to take photos and tell us how you get on.
Ways to Donate
You may choose to set up your own JustGiving page. This is a bit like an online sponsorship form and enables your supporters to donate and leave a message. This means that you will be able to add up the total you have raised. It is a good idea to link your page to our page so that people can see what you are raising funds for. Click below for our page.
