A young boy called Miles has shown extraordinary kindness by selling his much-loved toys to raise money for The Winchester Beacon.

Nine-year-old Miles, spent six hours every day for a week positioned outside the front of his house selling his toys to neighbours and passers-by.

In total, Miles raised an impressive £121, which he proudly donated to support our work. The funds will go directly towards providing safe accommodation, warm meals and vital support services for people facing homelessness.

Speaking about his efforts, Miles’ mum, Georgina, said:

“I am really proud of what Miles has achieved and the perseverance that he has shown. He loves creating stalls and selling things and interacting with people. Miles wanted to help people experiencing homelessness and was keen to give to a local charity where he could hand over the money personally and understand where it went.”

The Winchester Beacon’s Communications and Fundraising Officer, Nancy Judge, praised the young fundraiser:

“We think Miles is an inspiration! We are so touched that he dedicated a whole week to raising funds to support our essential work. Miles’ act of kindness is a reminder that anyone, no matter what their age, can make a meaningful impact. His fundraising will make a real difference to those who rely on The Winchester Beacon for accommodation and support. Well done and thank you from everyone at The Winchester Beacon.”
