Just before the country went into lockdown, Winchester Guildhall hosted the popular Winchester Beer and Cider Festival.
Beer and cider fans piled into the Guildhall for a taste of some of the best local brews whilst soaking up live music. This year the festival organisers chose Winchester Churches Nightshelter as the event’s charity of the year.
Festival goers were given the opportunity to donate their unused drinks tokens at the end of each session. The organisers then converted the unused tokens into money and donated it to the Nightshelter. The generosity of festival goers amounted to a fantastic £1270.
Michele Price, Chief Executive of the Nightshelter commented: “We would like thank the organisers of this year’s festival for choosing to support us. We provide a safe, supportive and welcoming place for seventeen people experiencing homelessness to stay every night of the year. The money donated will support our work to help our residents make positive steps forward.”
The annual event will return next March.
