On Tuesday, 18th March, student societies at The University of Winchester came together in a head-to-head charity contest to support The Winchester Beacon. This exciting event, the Society Vs Society Challenge Night, was designed by Event Management students as part of their final year assessment, showcasing creativity and community spirit.
The idea was born when Jess, Sarah, Savannah and Haruki responded to a brief from The Winchester Beacon. Their challenge was clear – to create an event that not only entertained but also raised awareness and funds. The result was a fun event filled with friendly competition and community engagement.
Hosted at The Vault in the Students’ Union, the event featured a range of engaging activities:
-
Tug of War
-
Musical Chairs
-
Cup Shake
-
Quiz Challenges
Participants eagerly took part in these contests, turning the event into a vibrant celebration of teamwork and competitive spirit.
Praise for the students’ dedication
Nancy, Senior Communications and PR Officer at The Winchester Beacon, shared her admiration for the students’ hard work:
“We have been so impressed by the professionalism of the students throughout this project. They have shown fantastic teamwork, creativity, and communication skills. We really appreciate all that they have done to raise awareness of the charity and feel confident that they all have a bright future ahead.”
Not only did the event support a worthy cause but it also provided invaluable real-world experience for the students. This initiative demonstrates how creative ideas can bring people together and support local charities.
