The Nightshelter’s Supporters’ Evening and AGM 2018, which was held on November 14th, attracted around 100 people for an evening of talks and short films on the issue of homelessness in Hampshire.
Current and new Nightshelter supporters gathered for the annual event at St Peter’s Church Pastoral Centre on Jewry Street, where they enjoyed hearing stories from Nightshelter residents and staff.
This year’s event showcased a series of short films, produced for the Nightshlelter by local film-maker Steve Feeney, featuring residents talking frankly about their very personal experiences of homelessness, including the discrimination they have faced whilst being homeless.
Michele Price, Nightshelter Manager, said: “Our annual Supporters’ Evening and AGM is our chance to highlight the vital difference the Nightshelter makes to the local community and, specifically, the ways in which we have made an impact during the year. We’re always so delighted by the number of people who come to the Supporters’ Evening and show an interest in our work. It’s vital that those who have experienced homelessness have a voice, and by filming our residents talking abour their struggles, we hope we can send their stories far and wide.”
