The Nightshelter was recently contacted by 10 year old, Etienne, who wanted to share her plans to help people experiencing homelessness.
Etienne was first moved to do something to help the homeless situation after visiting London with her family for a holiday a few years ago. She was so excited to visit the capital but came away upset by the number of people sleeping on the streets. “Seeing so many homeless people made me feel very sad,” explained Etienne. “I knew that there had to be a way to help but I just wasn’t sure how. Then a couple of years later I thought of the idea of ‘Kindness is the New Cool'”.
The slogan came to Etienne at a time when she was going through a hard time herself. “I realised how important it is to be kind to myself and to others,” explained Etienne. With the help of her family and friends, Etienne created a logo out of her concept and designed a range of t-shirts and hoodies.
Etienne’s ‘Kindness is the New Cool’ clothing range is available to buy online with all profits raised being donated to the Nightshelter. Etienne has chosen to use fabric which is good for the environment as being kind to the earth is also important.
