Are you one of the millions of people in the UK currently furloughed from their job? If you are looking for a way to contribute something positive during this pause, perhaps we can help.
Whilst the Nightshelter continues to offered an expanded service, open all day and every day for all residents, we are in need of additional volunteers. At the moment, we are looking specifically for people to help during the daytime on Saturdays and Sundays.
We would also love to hear from people with skills and experience in events management, PR and IT to support forthcoming projects. These opportunities would be a great way to contribute to the vital work of the Nightshelter but also to keep brains ticking over during the coming weeks and add to your experience.
Mike, was furloughed from his job in Air Traffic Management. Aware of the Nightshelter but having never volunteered before, he decided to turn this unexpected pause from work into a positive experience. Mike has been running errands for the Nightshelter including collecting donations and fetching the milk.
“I have enjoyed being able to help in my small way to save the Nightshelter calling on other volunteers that are so much more heavily involved with the shelter,” Mike commented.
