Shrove Tuesday saw the return of the Winchester Pancake Race in the grounds of Winchester Cathedral.
The Nightshelter entered with an enthusiastic team of residents, staff and volunteers. Going by the name of ‘A Batter Night’s Sleep’, the Nightshelter team donned pyjamas and carried teddy bears.
The race involved flipping the pancake at the start, middle and end of each 38m leg of the relay. Organised by Winchester Rotary, all proceeds from the event will be shared between Winchester Cathedral and Winchester Rotary who this year are supporting Winchester and District Young Carers.
‘A Batter Night’s Sleep’ put on an impressive performance and pipped their opponents to a close win in the heats. Sadly, the team wasn’t speedy enough to make it to the final but enjoyed cheering on fellow flippers!
