We are excited to announce the Very Revd Catherine Ogle, Dean of Winchester, as our new Patron. Dean Catherine will be taking over the role from Bishop Tim on his retirement in early 2022.
“I am really pleased and proud to be taking over as the Patron,” commented Dean Catherine. “There is a real heart to the work of the charity supporting those who have fallen on bad times, something which could happen to any of us. There has been a long and great relationship between the charity, the Cathedral and the local churches and I am really pleased that this is carrying on. I hope that we will continue to be a real beacon to many people in our city and particularly those who are in need.”
Michèle Price, Chief Executive of The Winchester Beacon said: “We are honoured to welcome Dean Catherine as Patron. We look forward to working together with the Dean to continue our essential work lighting a way out of homelessness.”
The new appointment comes at a busy time as the pandemic continues to put a growing number of people at risk of homelessness. The Winchester Beacon is working hard to increase capacity and has recently purchased a four-bedroom property so that we can accommodate 22 people across four sites going forward.
