This Nightshelter is proud to be working with Winchester School of Art to mark this year’s Winchester Fashion Week. The collaboration celebrates our charity’s fashionable history and the talent of the city’s young designers.

The project has involved talented students from Winchester School of Art bringing Burberry home. Last year, a local historian discovered that the building now used by the Nightshelter was once home to the iconic fashion brand, Burberry. It is thought that in the 1920s and 1930s it was used a factory, perhaps making trench coats for the front line. A photo was even unearthed of the workers in the factory.

Second and third year students from the Winchester School of Art have used dead stock Burberry fabric donated by the British Fashion Council to create over twenty outfits. Their work has then been modelled, photographed and filmed at the Nightshelter to echo the building’s history.

The students’ work is on display now until the 17th July at The Gallery, Winchester School of Art, Park Avenue. Free entry, 11am-5.30pm. For the full programme of Winchester Fashion Week events visit www.winchesterfashionweek.co.uk
