This World Homeless Day, we are asking you to choose to do one thing. Sometimes, it can be hard to know how to help and the number of people in need can be overwhelming. By choosing to take action today and doing just one thing, you will be making a positive difference to the lives of people experiencing homelessness in Hampshire.
So start today and choose to take action. There are 10 ways you could help listed below, you only need to act on one of them to make a difference and be a beacon of hope to people experiencing homelessness.
1. Stay Over
Give up your bed every now and again and come and sleep at The Winchester Beacon. We need a volunteer to come on site every night to help our member of staff from 9pm – 8am. Email admin@winchesterbeacon.org.uk to find out more.
2. Get Cooking
Whether you are able to come onsite and cook an evening meal or would rather magic up meals at home and drop them to us, we would love to add your culinary skills to our team of volunteer cooks. Email admin@winchesterbeacon.org.uk to find out more.
3. Read our Annual Review
Grab a seat and a cup of tea and take 10 minutes to read our latest Annual Review and discover more about what we do. You can view it online here or pop by our main site on Jewry Street and ask for a printed copy.
4. Text a Donation
It takes just a moment to send your donation via text. Simply text BEACON and any amount up to £20 to 70560, eg. BEACON £2 (texts cost the donation amount plus one standard text message).
5. Sign Up to Our Newsletter
Sign up to hear more from us. We won’t fill your inbox with endless emails, instead, about once a month, we will send you a newsletter full of real life stories, opportunities and news of what we are doing to make a difference. Sign up here.
6. Payroll Giving
Start a conversation with your employer about donating via Payroll Giving. You will benefit via tax relief whilst giving regular support to people experiencing homelessness in Hampshire.
7. Easyfundraising
Download the Easyfundraising app today and choose The Winchester Beacon as your charity. Without spending an extra penny you will help us through donations, discover how this works here.
8. Volunteer
Volunteering with us is flexible and rewarding. Once you have completed our induction you simply log into our online rota and book to help out as and when you can. We understand how busy life can get so we don’t ask for any regular commitment. Email admin@winchesterbeacon.org.uk to find out more.
9. Become a Monthly Donor
