This week a group of our residents took to the saddle as part of a series of ‘Rides for Wellbeing’ co-ordinated by local business, Bespoke Biking.

The initiative is being funded by Sports England via Community First and supports Bespoke Biking’s aim to help everyone to cycle more.  Three residents signed up to the session which began with some cycling basics before ending with an impromptu race up the hill!

Heather Evans from Bespoke Biking commented on how good it was to be out on the bikes: “We are thrilled to work with local charities to help people post Covid get out on bikes, to enjoy a ride with others to socialise and improve their cycling skills and physical fitness.”

Bespoke Biking hopes to invite interested residents to take part in some lessons with them so that they can learn to mend bikes. There are plans for another ride next month.

Nightshelter Support Worker, George, attended with the residents: “It was great to see Craig, Briony and Matthew outside enjoying themselves. The ride was fantastic escapism and fun and also a chance for our residents to challenge themselves and be rewarded by a sense of achievement.  The smiles captured in the photos say it all!”

There were some achy legs the next day but the residents agreed that it was nice to have a change of scene and do something different with their day.
