Every year The Winchester Beacon needs to raise over £500,000 to continue to provide our current service, so any amount, big or small, is gratefully received.
Fundraising not only generates vital income for us but helps to raise our profile too – the more imaginative your fundraising idea the better! Here are some recent examples of how people have supported The Winchester Beacon:
Peter Symonds College
Pupils at Peter Symonds College in Winchester set up a Homeless Initiative to help raise funds for The Winchester Beacon and collect essential items such as sleeping bags and blankets.
Kasbah Swing Band
Kasbah Swing Band raised over £300 hosting a gig at The Flowerpots Inn which was matchfunded by the landlord.
Challenger Events
Archie, Sam P, Jack, Noah and Sam W ran over 110km around the Isle of Wight. This amazing achievement took 17 hours and raised £3,000.
Cocktail Night
Event management students from the University of Winchester planned and hosted a fantastic cocktail-making fundraiser at South Downs Social.
Any additional money we raise is put towards expanding our support services. Recent fundraising initiatives have made it possible for us to:
- Refurbish our residents’ bathrooms at our main site
- Purchase an additional four bedroom house so that we can now accommodate 22 people across four sites
- Fund an advocacy service to give our residents vital one-to-one support
- Provide cookery lessons for residents
